Boy Scouts change policy on gay youth

<p>I’m kind of iffy on the policy change. There was some justification for the policy in the first place. These Male child Scouts go camping and sleep together in tents. Although I don’t predict a gay Boy Scout would do anything questionable, some may feel uncomfortable with that situation. It would be almost the same thing as having a girl share a tent with a lad. Not saying the kid would make a advance , but having the possibility of a kid sleeping in the same tent with a boy he found attractive would concern a parent just enjoy it would worry the parent of a teen who was forced to sleep in a tent with a boy.</p>

When he was 6 and brought home the note frmo school about packs starting up, we were completely upfront about our reasons for not letting him do this, and he was FINE with it (did not want to be in anything that the friend I used as an example could not be part of just because said confidant loved another Daddy). I felt teaching him the lesson that one lives by ones convictions was much more important than anything socuting would coach him (not that lad scouts dont do a lot of great things, but we CAN fetch that elsewhere).
I did present (and have offered every year since) to commence a Campfire Kids or Baden-Powell troop if he wants to do scouting (especially as he has been tagging along with my dauighters GS troop since he was 3). He does not wish to, there are other things he wants to do with his spare time.

Eagle Scouts make a be upright for equality
In response to the Young man Scouts of Americas decision to maintain its ban on gay scouts and LGBT leaders, some Eagle Scouts contain decided to receive a stand in a way only Eagle Scouts would be able to. Several adult Eagle Scouts have begun mailing their American Boy Scoutings Eagle Scout award endorse to the group with letters criticizing the Boy Scouts anti-gay policies.
