'Grey's Anatomy' actor comes out as gay

"Grey's Anatomy" character Dr. Levi Schmitt isn't the only one who came out last night. Jake Borelli, the actor who plays him, did, too.

On Thursday, after the long-running medical drama introduced its first-ever gay adoration and male-on-male embrace between Schmitt and new character Nico Kim (Alex Landi), Borelli celebrated the landmark moment on Instagram.

“As a same-sex attracted guy myself, tonight’s episode was so special to me," the year-old wrote.  "This is exactly the kind of story I craved as a youthful gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that I’m able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season on 'Grey’s Anatomy.' ”

Borelli continued, "His vulnerability and courage encourage me every afternoon, and I desire he can act the same for you. To all of you who feel like minuscule Levis out there, know that I do too, that you are seen, and that we're all in this together."
