Young Royals has me thinking about what might happen if a similar situation arose with the actual Swedish royal family.
Now, we did already have a gay sex scandal involving the royal family, but that was in the 50s, and the king in ask was already dead, so it's not the same.
What happened was that a man called Kurt Haijby claimed to have had a love affair with Gustav V, and the court denied it while simultaneously paying Haijby to shut up. When the whole thing was exposed, the blackmail and cover-up was as much of a scandal as the accusations of an affair, though there was definitely a "look what a den of vice the royal household is!" angle too. (While left-wing people nowadays are assumed to be LGBTQ+ friendly, that has not necessarily been the case historically. Many saw homosexuality as bourgeoisie deviancy.)
