Nassib played multiple sports at Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, PA before attending Penn State University, where he made the football team as a walk-on. After not playing his first two seasons, Nassib would become a star defender, receiving numerous accolades his Senior Year (), named to the All-American team and receiving both the Lombardi (given to college's best lineman or linebacker) and Nagurski-Woodson (given to the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year) awards.
Following his senior year, Nassib entered the National Football League, where he played for seven years, taking the field for the Cleveland Browns (,) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (, ) and Las Vegas Raiders (). In his professional career Nassib had sacks and tackles.

LAS VEGAS – In a blizzard of Raiders jerseys at Allegiant Stadium, one in particular stood out.
It was No. 94, and it was worn by Andrew Erazos, a self-identified gay male paying tribute to another gay man.
Carl Nassib, a backup defensive end who wears No. 94 for the Las Vegas Raiders, on Monday was playing in his first regular-season NFL game since he became the first active NFL player to appear out as gay. Erazos, 60, was here to witness that history -- while attending his first NFL game.
“I’m so thrilled to be here,’’ Erazos said.
As the Raiders took the field before kickoff, the deafening noise from the crowd made it virtually impossible to overhear any of Nassib’s supporters – or detractors. But Erazos, who arrived at the stadium a couple of hours before the game started, said his jersey prompted some reaction.

Former Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib, who became the first openly queer active NFL player in , is being honored by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington.
The No. 94 jersey Nassib wore in the season opener on Sept. 13 is on exhibit in a modern Smithsonian exhibit. It was his first NFL regular-season game after coming out.
Nassib came up with a key strip sack of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in the Raiders overtime victory.
The jersey is now in the museums Entertainment Nation display.
I mind it was really important that same-sex attracted stories get told and remembered, Nassib told the Washington Post.
Nassib played two seasons with the Raiders in and before finishing his career in with the Buccaneers.
