Rob bell gay

Recently I wrote concerning Steal Bell, the enormously widespread preacher and author. I encouraged Bell to attain out to his sisters and brothers in mainline Christianity, many of whom are buying his books and other products and who have shared some of his theological sensibilities for a very elongated time.

This Sunday Rob Bell spoke at San Francisco's Grace Cathedral and openly endorsed marriage equality. Grace Cathedral is the Episcopal Cathedral of the Diocese of California. Bell was speaking to the Cathedral's Grace Forum in an appearance presented in partnership with his publisher, HarperCollins (audio here).

In response to a question regarding same-sex marriage, Bell said, "I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for cherish, whether it's a male and woman, a lady and a woman, a man and a gentleman. I think the ship has sailed and I think the church needs -- I think this is the world we are living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are."

Bell went on to say that while it used to be equitable to equate evangelicals with social conservatism, that assumption no longer h

Rob Bell is Gay Affirming but not everyone is happy about it

Rob Bell, among others, has appear out as open to Same Sex Marriage (SSM) &#; but not everyone is on-board with it.

David Fitch (with a Canadian connection) posted this:

Who is Rob Bell speaking for/to in affirming gay marriage? His (former) church? Christians at large? The press? Culture observers? Gay Christians (in Grace Church SF)? Why or who should be paying attention to him? and Why?

More and more I&#;m seeing Christian leaders who have no congregation/people they&#;re accountable to (who yet carry media/publishing driven leadership) create division with pronouncements. This results in damage to the church&#;s wherewithal for witness in a world that sees all this. I don&#;t know if Steal Bell is to condemn (for the media) but I do think we Christians should not promote this nonsense. (On the other hand, I can listen to the Pope differently because he stands within years of a tradition so that he cannot make statements without being accountable to it).

When we listen to a Christian leader we should first and f

Former Mars Hill Bible Church pastor and best-selling author Rob Bell told media mogul Oprah Winfrey on Sunday that the American church is "moments away" from embracing gay marriage and thinks "it's inevitable."

Bell made the statement during a Valentine's weekend episode of Winfrey's "Super Soul Sunday" television show where he appeared with his wife, Kristen, to discuss marriage and their new manual, The ZimZum of Love: A Fresh Way of Knowledge Marriage.

"Marriage, queer and straight, is a gift to the world because the world needs more not less love, fidelity, vow, devotion and sacrifice," she noted.

Rob Bell, Gay Marriage and Coming Out as an Ally

I still remember the first National Youth Workers Convention when I heard Rob Bell speak for the first time. It was captivating. I&#;m pretty sure this was in his pre-NOOMA days, but he had this way of drawing you in that was really intriguing to me. And he&#;s frickin&#; brilliant.

I read some of his books, enjoyed his thoughts on theological issues, and eventually really appreciated the operate he did on the NOOMA videos. I still use them for our college group and Adult Education at the church I serve now. They offer just enough content that people really get into the discussion, but don&#;t get bored and don&#;t feel overwhelmed by much technical theological jargon.

Then he wrote this little book called &#;Love Wins&#; (my thoughts here). John Piper said &#;Farewell.&#; Rob Bell made the April 25, cover of TIME Magazine. And of course&#;lots of conservatives thought he was a heretic.

Well, Rob&#;s at it again. With a recent book that just came out, &#;What We Talk About When We Talk About God,&#; he&#;s been on a book tour, an
