Sitges is a popular and exclusive sea-side resort located about 45 kilometers south of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain.

Sitges is well known for the Sitges Film Festival in October and the Sitges Carnival in February and the Pride Festival in June.

Sitges also offers visitors a very nice selection of beaches, nightspots, and historical sites.

The C tollroad is the fastest way to ride to Sitges from Barcelona. It connects Sitges with Barcelona in 30 minutes. You can also take the free C31 coastal road, which is very scenic, but it has many bends and can be quite congested.

As is the theme in Spain, Sitges is not short of festivals and public holidays. Throughout the year various saints days offer days off for the locals and traditional celebrations. The largest of these takes place on   for the Feast of Sant Bartomeu otherwise known as "Festa Major de Sitges".

Festa Major de Sitges: 23 August - 24 August 

Alongside the traditional fiestas, the town's status as a tourist destination ensures that it also applications a whole range of festivals throughout the year. These cover everything from vintage cars, to tango dance and patchwork quilts.

    About Sitges and its gay life

    Sitges is a small town 35 km south-western of Barcelona. In the belated 19th century Sitges started to become a mecca for artists and a center for Modernist and post Art Nouveau architects. During the s (under the conservative dictatorship of Franco) it became a center for the counterculture in Spain.

    Nowadays, Sitges' economy is based mainly on upscale tourism, business meetings and conferences. Unlike most other coasts in Spain which were taken over by affordable mass tourism in the s and s, Sitges fortunately preserved its particular atmosphere of a charming and pleasant (but also more expensive) place to relax and have enjoyable.

    This attracted also more and more same-sex attracted tourists and expatriates, and
